HARIPUR: The cybercrime wing of the Federal Investigation Agency here on Wednesday claimed to have arrested three persons on the charges of maligning army and its senior officers through their social media accounts.

According to the FIA Abbottabad circle, the three accused had been using maligning remarks against the military and its leadership for the last six months.

The accused later identified as Naveed Shah, Waqas Khan and Mohammad Nawaz were arrested after registering cases against them under the PECA Act.

SUICIDE CASE: A married woman allegedly committed suicide by jumping into a well in Maira Siriya village, Kot Najibullah police said here on Wednesday.

They quoted Azeem Khan, a resident of Maira Siriya, as saying that his wife, 29, jumped into the well for unknown reasons. His body was taken out with the help of other villagers.

The police registered the case and have started investigations.

PREDATOR TRACED: Officials of the wildlife department and experts from the forestry and wildlife department of the University of Haripur (UoH) have confirmed that the eating habits of the predator, which killed five goats and a calf a few days ago, were similar to striped hyena.

According to divisional wildlife officer Shakeel Ahmed, the experts visited different areas where the attacks on farm animals were reported in the district. The visit came after the recent attack in Shamsabad Paniyan.

Mr Ahmed said the joint team installed three night vision cameras for verification and tracking the movement of the predator. He said the remains of the killed goats and a calf were dumped at a specific place and the way the remains of the animals were eaten confirmed that the predator’s eating habits were similar to hyena.

The wildlife officer said recent floods had disturbed the habitat of the carnivore and the hyenas might have sneaked into Haripur from Swabi or Mardan area where their presence was confirmed in the past.
