LAHORE: Police claimed on Thursday to have killed a robber in an encounter at Nishtar Colony.

Identified as Naveed, the suspected robber was wanted to police in more than 50 criminal cases lodged against him at various police stations.

A police official claimed the robber was a symbol of terror due to his involvement in heinous crimes. He said the police set up a picket at Azam Chowk where they signalled a suspect. The man opened fire on police and escaped. During a brief chase, the police rounded him up and again faced firing.

Police resorted to firing and shot dead Naveed.
