TAXILA: Attock police on Thursday arrested a man involved in shooting dead his wife and mother-in-law over a domestic dispute in village Ikhlas in the jurisdiction of Pindigheb police station.

District Police Officer Imran Razzaq told journalists that the suspect committed the crime on Aug 12 and escaped. He said that a team led by Station House Officer Gulfraz Ahmed traced him and sent him behind the bars.

He said that the victim, 26-year-old Salma Bibi had been asking her husband for a divorce after differences developed between both of them. The man refused to divorce her and in a fit of rage, attacked Salma with a dagger when she was going to see some family members in the village. However, she survived and subsequently, an attempted murder case was registered against the suspect at Pindigheb police station. He was later released on bail.

Later, in July 2021, he shot dead his father-in-law Ghulam Rasool, who is a father to 11 daughters. The suspect was arrested again and released on bail due to lack of evidence. On Aug 12, he shot dead his wife and her mother.

Meanwhile, two persons were shot and injured in the Marri Kanjor area in the jurisdiction of Attock police station on Thursday. Arsalan Zafar and Nasir Iqbal were shot and injured. The injured were shifted to District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital by Rescue 1122. Police registered a case against the person responsible and launched further investigation.

Two abducted

Two persons were abducted in different incidents. In the first incident, Asif Shahzad reported to Wah Saddar police that his 17-year-old son Mohammad Sarmad was abducted by unknown persons. Moreover, Mohammad Shafeeq reported to police that his 15-year-old daughter was abducted by unknown persons while she was going to school.
