KARACHI: The Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) on Friday claimed to have recovered a child and arrested three kidnappers.

“The AVCC recovered nine-year-old Abdullah from Pehlwan Goth, Gulistan-i-Jauhar. He was kidnapped for ransom on Sept 13,” said AVCC SSP Amjad Hayat.

During the action, police also arrested the three kidnappers and recovered the mobile phone used for demanding the ransom, he added.

The alleged criminals had kidnapped the boy from Surjani Town and demanded Rs2.5 million as ransom for his release. Later, they made another call to increase the ransom amount to Rs3m.

The AVCC traced the origin of the phone calls, carried out a raid and arrested the suspects.

Only on Thursday, the AVCC had also recovered a 15-year-old boy, who was kidnapped from Shershah in 2021, from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The SSP said that a case for the recovery of the boy was pending before the Sindh High Court.
