LAHORE: Usman Akram Sahi of Defence Raya Golf Club shot five birdies in a three-under 69 to emerge as the net leader after the first round of the Millat Tractors Governors Cup Golf Championship at the Lahore Gymkhana course here on Friday.

The five-handicapper hit birdies on the sixth, eighth, 15th, 16th and 17th holes for a net score of 64, with 12-handicapper Farid Maneka of Lahore Gymkhana in second place one shot adrift.

The Lahore Gymkhana trio of Hussain Ata, Behram Khan and Abdullah Farooqi were all at 67 after the first round.

Another two strokes adrift are Royal Palm’s Ahmed Ibrahim, Lahore Garrison’s Nowsherwan Alam and Gymkhana’s Mohsen Zafar.

A group of six, comprising Dawar Lashari, Ghulam Qadir, Hamza Kardar, Saad Habib, Wasey Ali and Salman Jehangir all returned with a net score of 70.
