SAHIWAL: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is set to start the Inter-school District Cricket Championship 2022 next week to promote healthy trends among schoolchildren.

According to District Sports Officer Haji Abdul Qayyum, eight teams from private and public sector schools would participate in the championship to be played on a league pattern in Sahiwal.

He said the final would be held on Oct 14.

The district sports officer said the winner and runner-up teams would be awarded trophies and cash prizes.

He said trials would be held for the selection of school-level teams.

Deputy Commissioner Kamran Khan said: “School cricket is the nursery of cricket and the time has come that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) must invest in coaching and talent in polishing school cricket.”
