LAHORE: Former provincial health minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz MPA Khalil Tahir Sandhu has announced moving the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) against what he says violation by the chief justice of Pakistan (CJP) of the code for the secrecy of the Judicial Commission proceedings.
“The chief justice violated the code by making public the audio containing conversation of various participants of a meeting of the SJC held for the elevation of high courts’ judges to the Supreme Court. I, as a lawyer, shall move the Supreme Judicial Council against this act within a couple of days,” Mr Sandhu said in a statement here on Sunday.
He said that the CJP is supposed to be the top watchdog of human rights and custodians of official secrets. But the incumbent chief justice made public the audio clips containing comments of the attorney-general and the law minister about some judges.
He also criticized Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf chairman Imran Khan for threatening a judicial officer and said that if the national leadership used threatening language against junior judicial officers, then the judicial system would not work in the country.
