LAHORE: A number of millers on Monday staged a protest demonstration against the government for imposing fuel price adjustment (FPA) charges and other taxes in power bills with effect from June 2022.

The protesters gathered under the banner of Daroghawala Industry Owners Association in front of the Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco) head office and sought immediate withdrawal of the taxes.

“We are ready to pay bills without FPA,” said association’s chairman Inamul Haq Butt while speaking on the occasion. He also demanded abolition of fixed tax charges and increase in the basic tariff.

“We will have no option but to take an extreme step if our demands are not met,” he warned.

The Lesco administration increased the last bill payment date by one week beside making a promise to forward their demands to the federal government.
