KHYBER: District police officer Mohammad Imran suspended two policemen for conducting forced body search of some women, residents of Ali Masjid area, on suspicion of carrying drugs.

The DPO has asked the area magistrate to initiate an enquiry against the officials, according to a statement issued here on Monday.

The statement said Mr Imran also met elders of the women’s family and assured them that strict disciplinary action would be taken against the suspended officials if they were found guilty of misuse of their authority.

The DPO told the tribal elders that the incident, which occurred on Sunday, had earned a bad name for his force, and that nobody would be allowed to act in such a manner in future.

Meanwhile, DPO Imran also met representatives of Katiyakhel tribe of Jamrud and told them that the district administration had received almost two-third of the amount allocated for land purchase for construction of Police Lines in Shah Kas area, while the remaining amount would also be arranged shortly.

The elders demanded of the DPO to equally and judiciously distribute the said amount among all the sub-tribes of Katiyakhel as the land acquired was their collective property.
