NAROWAL: The three-day event of the 483rd death anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak started in Kartarpur on Tuesday.

Sikh pilgrims from all over the world, including Pakistan, will participate in the rituals.

In Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur, Head Gyani Sardar Gobind Singh formally started the religious rituals. Pilgrims will pay obeisance at the Samadhi and the grave of Guru Nanak.

Sardar Ameer Singh, Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee president, Sardar Inderjit Singh, member of the committee, MPA Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora, and the officers of the Evacuee Trust Property Board and the Kartarpur Project Management Unit welcomed the pilgrims.

Sardar Inderjit Singh told Dawn that arrangements had been made for the smooth stay and security of pilgrims at Gurdwara Darbar Sahib, Kartarpur.

Sikh pilgrims from India will arrive in Kartarpur only through the Kartarpur Corridor and will return to India the same evening. Pilgrims from other countries can stay overnight at Gurdwara.

The Nagar Kirtan procession from Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur will go to the Pakistan-India borderline at 4pm on Wednesday and will return after performing religious rituals. The final rituals will be performed at the Samadhi on Sept 22.

The entry of visitors has been banned to Gurdwara and without a security pass and national computerized identity card, no one will be let into the promises.
