AVOIDABLE TRAGEDY: The residents of Khairpur Nathan Shah were told not to leave their houses as there was little to no chances of flooding. They were also assured by political leaders that they would be on the frontline to protect them. However, the government issued an alert late in the night, asking the people to leave their houses. People rushed to save their lives, leaving their belongings behind. The transport mafia took advantage of the panic and increased the fares. Those who had made tall claims were sound asleep when people were running for their lives. Who should we hold responsible for the whole mess?

MISSING PATCHES: The Quetta-Karachi highway has been washed away at various places by the recent floods. People travelling between the two cities are doing so at great risk, and several accidents have already taken place due to the missing patches. No politician, media anchor, or government official has taken notice of the dangerous condition. One wonders if the road will ever get repaired at all. The relevant authorities need to take note of the situation and take necessary steps.

However, there have been attempts by many to find a safe refuge by calling it divine punishment. This is nothing but a desperate bid to avoid accountability for their wrongdoings.

POLICY CONSISTENCY: The province of Sindh has had consistency of governance for the last 15 years, and yet there has been no consistency in policy and executions terms. Take, for instance, the case of education. The founders of the ruling party in the province were educated individuals who were known as avid readers of books. The same party is struggling to streamline the education system under its control. What an irony.
