HYDERABAD, Dec 22: Dist-rict Nazim Kanwar Naveed Jamil has set a deadline of April 30 for completion of a project for improving the water supply and drainage system in all three talukas of the Hyderabad city.
He was presiding over a review meeting of ongoing development schemes at the district nazim secretariat.
Mr Jamil said the district government had prepared 128 development schemes for improvement of water supply and sewerage system at a cost of Rs455.33 million.
He said 30 schemes had been completed while 59 schemes were in the pipeline.
The district nazim said that Rs70.5 million out of an allocation of Rs141 million had been released to the executing authority of the projects in the present financial year.
He said the problem of drainage in Qasimabad had been solved by improving various pumping stations.
Mr Jamil said the duration of water supply to Latifabad and Hussainabad would increase from 30 minutes to three hours.
He noted some managerial flaws in the HDA which were affecting pace of the development.
The nazim directed the HDA director general to work out a plan to restructure the development authority and fill vacant posts on urgent basis.
He informed the meeting that tenders for construction of 49 new wells in three talukas of the Hyderabad district had been issued.
He asked the director general to finish the work by February 15.
About uncovered manholes, the Mr Jamil said the government had bought 1,700 covers for the purpose of covering the manholes.
BEAUTIFICATION: The district nazim presided over another meeting about beautifying Hyderabad.
He formed a committee headed by Zafar Rajput, the Haq Parast candidate for the post of district naib nazim, and HDA director general as secretary to finalize the programme for beautifying the city.
He directed the director general to submit the plan within two days.
Mr Jamil directed him to conduct a survey of roundabouts, footpaths and roads to find out where repair was needed.
He also directed him to conduct a survey about construction of unauthorized buildings and issue notices to builders.
