PESHAWAR: Suspected militants opened fire on the Regi Model Town police station here late on Friday; however, there were no causalities, the officials said.

A police official told Dawn that five to six militants tried to attack the police station situated on the outskirts of the city.

“Our personnel were alert and responded to the firing immediately, forcing the attackers to flee,” the official said, adding the attackers had apparently sneaked into the area from the neighbouring Khyber district.

He said the police were investigating the incident; however, no arrests were made yet.
