CHARSADDA: Police claimed to have arrested the killer of an eight-year-old girl whose body was found at garbage dump few days ago.

DSP Taj Mohammad Khan, Tangi SHO Muzaffar Khan and DSP Farhad Ali told a press conference that the killer was an Afghan national, who confessed to his crime.

They said Farooq Shah of Mufti nagar Dhab Banda on September 25 told Tangi police station that his eight-year-old daughter Hina was missing. Her body was found at a garbage heap near her house in fields the next day.

Police registered a case against unidentified killers and started investigation. They different teams were formed to trace the accused.

The officials said that a local man helped police in the investigation. They said that being an eyewitness, he told police that an Afghan national identified as Hijratullah committed the crime.

They said that Hijratullah was dumb and could not speak. They said that he was missing from his house after the incident. They said that arrested him after hectic efforts. They said that the accused got furious when someone clapped hands in his presence.

He told police with the help of his father that on the day of incident the girl clapped hands and made some unwanted gestures to enrage him. He hit her head with a cement block and then pressed her throat with both hands and suffocated her. He dumped her body at the garbage dump.

The officials said that the accused was still being investigated.

KILLED: An 11-year-old boy identified as Babrak was killed when a stray bullet him during festive firing at a wedding ceremony in Chendrow Dag area of Tangi tehsil here on Sunday.

Gandari police arrested Tahir and Yasin, who were involved in the festive firing during the wedding ceremony of Shoeb, son of Ali Ahmed. The stray bullet hit Babrak in the hit and died on the spot, police said.

The residents of the area demanded of police to take stern action against the people, who were involved in firing in the air during wedding ceremonies and other festivities.
