LAKKI MARWAT: Two terrorists were killed in shootouts with law enforcers in Wanda Shahabkhel and Mammakhel areas of Lakki Marwat on Sunday.

An official said that the Counter-Terrorism Department personnel along with security forces and policemen launched intelligence-based operations in the rural localities on information about presence of terrorists there.

“The law enforcement agencies had received credible information about the presence of a terrorist, Waliullah, in Wanda Shahabkhel village of Kurrum Par area,” he said, adding that the CTD commandos and security forces along with a large contingent of local police were dispatched to the trans-river belt to arrest the wanted militant.

The official said that the personnel came under attack when they started combing the area in search of terrorists. “The law enforcers returned the fire and a terrorist, identified as Waliullah, was killed in the gun battle,” he added.

The official said the law enforcers also killed a local militants’ commander, identified as Tahir, in a shootout that took place in the forests near Mammakhel village of Naurang town.

“The slain terrorists were wanted by the police in terrorism-related cases, including the killing of ASI Kalimullah,” he revealed, adding that the law enforcers also seized arms, ammunition, hand grenades and explosives from the killed terrorists and shifted their bodies to a hospital.

The official said that a large contingent of police led by district police officer Ziauddin Ahmed was in the area to hunt down the fleeing accomplices of the slain terrorists.
