LAHORE: People at the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE)’s open court on Tuesday complained about delay in redressal of their grievances, urging its head to look into the matter.

As many as 26 complainants visited the open court at ACE’s headquarters at Faridkot House.

Most of the complainants told the adviser to the chief minister retired Brig Musadaq Abbasi and ACE Director General (DG) Nadeem Sarwar that their cases were subject to red tapism.

They also complained about the lack of cooperation of some ACE officials in addressing their complaints. Some of them also submitted fresh complaints about the staff of different departments for their alleged corruption.

The DG and the adviser listened to the complainants and issued directions on the spot to address their issues.

Nadeem Sarwar said he would directly listen to the problems of the public and resolve the complaints against the officers of ACE and other departments on the first Tuesday of every month.

The DG said the purpose of open courts was to promote self-accountability in the department. He invited common people to come forward and to identify the corruption and corrupt elements so that action could be taken against them.

He said that his doors were open for everyone and the people should come forward without fear and identify the corrupt elements. He said the people’s confidence in the ACE had been restored and the scourge of corruption could be buried in Pakistan forever.

Brig Abbasi said the ACE’s fight was against the corrupt mafia that was robbing the wealth of Pakistan. He said to make Pakistan a strong and stable country, it was necessary to take strict action against such corrupt elements.

All the regional offices of ACE also held open courts on Tuesday.
