KARACHI: Pakistan have been drawn in Group ‘F’ alongside Qatar 1 and Singapore 2 in the World Team Snooker Championship which sprang into action in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday.

According to the information made available here, Pakistan are slated to take on Singapore 2 in their opening fixture on Thursday.

As many as 28 teams — drawn into eight groups — from 15 countries are competing in the event.

Top two teams from each group will qualify for the last-16 round.

Pakistan failed to secure any medal in the preceding Asian 6-Reds and World 6-Reds Snooker Championships, respectively.

Meanwhile, little known Shrikrishna Suryanarayanan of India was crowned new World 6-Reds champion when he demolished Bahrain’s Habib Sabah 5-1 in the one-sided final the other day. Suryanarayanan won the duel 51-4, 0-39, 63-0, 39-0, 45-7, 43-2.
