ISLAMABAD: Army, Wapda and Karachi won their respective matches to qualify for the semi-finals of the National Women’s Basketball Championship here at the Pakistan Sports Complex on Wednesday.
Keeping their unbeaten record intact in the pool round, Army defeated Islamabad Blues 55-26 to reach the last-four stage.
Kashifa was Army’s top player scoring 17 points while team-mates Ayesha Khan (15) and Amna Mohsin (9) gave her good support.
For Islamabad Blues, Amani Khan scored eight points.
Meanwhile, defending champions Wapda continued their outstanding show in the championship as they routed Rawalpindi 62-6 to cruise into the semi-finals.
Demonstrating complete dominance, Wapda led by 26 points until half time. From Wapda, Hijab Fatima and Sidra Hakim scored 11 points each while Amina Mukhtar contributed nine.
In another match, Lahore outclassed Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 31-4.
KP failed to earn a single point till half time as Lahore led 17-0. Huraina Sajjad and Feroza Aslam collected 10 and eight points, respectively for the winning side.
In the day’s fourth match, Karachi outgunned Islamabad Whites 30-14 to book their place in the semi-finals.
Hiba Faraz with 12 points played the key role in Karachi’s victory while her team-mate Laiba Tabraiz Khan gathered eight points.
