BAJAUR: The Bajaur peace action committee, a body of local elders and political leaders, here on Friday called upon the authorities to take tangible steps for bringing improvement in law and order situation and restoration of peace in the district.

The committee made the call during a meeting presided over by its president Maulana Abdur Rasheed, the chief of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl local chapter.

The meeting was held at the district administration’s Jirga Hall in Civil Colony, Khar. It was attended by the committee members.

The participants of the meeting – held weeks after the end of their protest sit-in against lawlessness – said that the authorities were yet to implement their 12-point agendafor improvement of the law and order situation.

The speakers recalled that the district administration had promised with them on Aug 27 to address their demands concerning peace in the district within 20 days. However, they alleged that they did not see tangible efforts in this regard.

“The administration and police officials had assured us that they would take steps within 20 days to improve law and order in the district, but they have yet to fulfil their commitment,” said Maulana Abdur Rasheed.
