MITHI: Sindh High Court Chief Justice Ahmed Ali Shaikh took notice of gang-rape of a woman in a village near Chhachhro town a week ago and summoned Mirpurkhas DIG Zulfikar Ali Mahar and Tharparkar SSP Hassan Sardar Niazi to appear in court on Oct 13 with a detailed report on the incident.

According to a letter sent to the two police officials, the justice expressed concern over the recent gang-rape incident, which was the second within a month’s time in Tharparkar district.

In the latest incident, a 22-year-old Meghwar woman was kidnapped from her house by two suspects who drugged her and her family members before taking her to a desolate place in Chaaper Din Shah village within the limits of Kheensar police station six days ago, and subjected her to gang-rape for several hours.

Police registered an FIR on a complaint lodged by the victim’s father under sections of Pakistan Penal Code and arrested the suspects Mushtaq Ahmed Bajeer and Nabi Bux Bajeer after raids on different places.
