LAHORE: After Punjab home minister retired Col Hashim Dogar resigned from his office, Punjab government has reportedly appointed former governor and adviser to chief minister on information Omar Sarfraz Cheema as CM’s adviser on home.

Though a formal notification of the appointment is yet awaited, Mr Cheema was given his new assignment’s protocol on Wednesday evening.

Dogar had resigned from his office citing “personal reasons” and pledged to continue serving the PTI as a worker.

Mr Dogar was said to be under pressure as some PTI loyalists were accusing him of “being soft” on the PML-N.
