PESHAWAR: The higher education department, the Higher Education Regulatory Authority (HERA) and Kohat Division Development Project on Monday inked a Memorandum of Understanding to provide scholarships to as many as 1,230 youth from Kohat, Karak and Hangu in technical education.
Chief secretary Dr Shahzad Khan Bangash, additional chief secretary Shahab Ali Shah, secretary planning and development Shah Mehmood Khan, secretary higher education department Dawood Khan and others were present.
The participants were briefed about the importance of the programme, which would cover tuition fee, books, library cost, boarding and accommodation. The stipend would be provided to eligible youth for various degree, diploma and certificate courses at a cost of Rs349 million.
HERA would facilitate the programme beneficiaries in the fields of health, technical, mobile and digital skills, while the higher education department would facilitate the scholars in the fields of petroleum and gas engineering, energy and power engineering, health and nursing.
Shahzad Bangash appreciated the efforts of the departments concerned for providing technical education to students.
