RAHIM YAR KHAN: The two-day 5th International Conference on Applied Zoology (ICAZ-2022) Hybrid Mode began here at the Khwaja Fareed University of Engineering and Information Technology (KFUEIT) on Monday.

Vice Chancellor (VC) of the Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad, Prof Dr Muhammad Ali was the chief guest, while KFUEIT VC Prof Dr Muhammad Suleman Tahir inaugurated the conference attended by more than 150 professors and research scholars from different varsities.

During the inaugural address, Dr Tahir said the main objective of this conference was to enhance research work in zoology. Research was essential for the development of any society, he said, adding that the conference would help expedite development in society through economic reforms and promote knowledge of basic sciences. He said more research would mean more inventions.

QAU VC Prof Muhammad Ali said Khawaja Fareed was a poet of nature and had a liberal mindset. He said applied zoology conference would help increase impactful research and new technologies to enhance production.

In an online address HEC chairman Dr Mukhtar Ahmed said there was a need to bridge the gap among academia, adding that the varsities should introduce a culture of mutual cooperation. With the help of research collective benefits should be obtained, he stressed.

On the occasion, Dera Ghazi Khan Commissioner Liaqat Chattha, Kohsar University, Muree, VC Prof Dr Habib Bukhari, and Okara University VC Prof Dr Muhammad Wajid also spoke.

In the end, gold medals and certificates were awarded to 40 research scholars from different universities of Punjab and Sindh.
