HARIPUR: Traders here on Wednesday criticised the tehsil municipal administration for its poor services and encroachment by the pushcart owners in main bazaar and asked it to improve the services.
Speaking to mediapersons in Haripur Press Club, All Traders Association’s former president Abdul Saboor Qureshi and other traders said the TMA officials had allowed hundreds of pushcart owners to occupy the road and sides of the main bazaar, which had not only made the movement of people difficult, but also badly affected their business.
They said several streets of the city were without lights, making the job of robbers easy, while poor sanitation was another problem haunting the urban area residents.
They said the sanitation staff had failed to collect solid waste from several points despite collection of taxes from them.
They condemned the 100pc increase in monthly water charges for consumers and demanded its immediate withdrawal. Haji Sher Afzal and Tanvir Ahmed were prominent among those who spoke on this occasion.
KILLED: A man shot dead his father-in-law and left injured his mother-in-law, sister-in-law and his own father over a dispute on photo shoot in Talokar village, police said on Wednesday.
City police quoted Mazram Bibi, wife of a fruit vendor Zahid Mehmood, as saying that valima ceremony of her son was held on Tuesday evening.
She said the family was busy in photo shoot after the ceremony when her son-in-law Faisal, son of Qazi Abdul Waheed of Sera-e-Saleh, asked his wife not to participate. She said when Mehmood tried to persuade Faisal he got infuriated and opened fire at him and other family members.
As a result, Mehmood died on the spot while Faisal’s mother-in-law, sister-in-law and real father were injured, who were taken to the trauma centre.
