QUETTA: Members of civil society, human rights activists and lawyers on Saturday protested the killing of a student of the Sardar Bahadur Khan Women’s University by her husband and increasing violence against women.
Several female activists from different organisations and other people gathered outside the Quetta Press Club carrying banners and placards inscribed with their demands. Led by PPP leader and chairperson of Eva Jee Alliance Sana Durrani, Shumila Ismail and Fatima Khan, the protesters chanted slogans against the police and authorities concerned for not arresting the killer.
Addressing the protest rally, Ms Durrani, Syed Zahoor Agha, Alauddin Khilji, Shahwani Adil, Jahangir Adil, Manzoor Ahmed, the father of the late female student and others strongly condemned the killing of the student, Amna Bibi, by her husband.
They lamented that despite the passage of over 20 days, the accused was not arrested and was putting pressure on Ms Bibi’s parents to withdraw the FIR against him.
