KARACHI: The city witnessed hot and dry weather on Sunday when the mercury crossed 37 degrees Celsius mark as the Met office calling it a “typical October phenomenon” predicted that the situation would continue for the next few days.

However, it said that the temperature was likely to come down by a degree or two from Monday.

“October is usually hot and dry in Karachi with daytime average being 35.6C. From Monday on temperature will come down 1 or 2 degrees Celsius,” said Sardar Sarfaraz of the Met office.

In the daily advisory, the Met office mentioned a little “foggy conditions” in the city in morning hours due to which the visibility in suburbs of the metropolis could be poor for a while.

On Sunday, the maximum temperature was recorded at 37.1 degrees centigrade with 27 per cent humidity.

‘Most-polluted city in world’

Meanwhile, Karachi has replaced Lahore as the most-polluted city in the world, according to a report on Sunday, adds PPI.

The city has recorded a particulate matter rating of 191. It is to be noted here that a particulate matter rating above 301 indicates hazardous pollution.

Karachi has recorded a particulate matter rating of 235.

Lahore ranks second in the list of the most polluted cities in the world. The city has recorded a particulate matter rating of 233.
