KARACHI: The Sindh government will launch a mobile phone app for the People’s Bus Service next month that would help people track the buses on different routes and make payments online, said a statement issued on Thursday.

It said a meeting chaired by Sindh Minister for Information, Transport and Mass Transit Sharjeel Inam Memon also decided to activate information technology service (ITS) in all buses on November 30.

The meeting was attended by NRTS project director Sohaib Shafiq and Sindh Mass Transit Authority managing director retired Captain Altaf Hussain Sario.

“In the meeting, the provincial minister was briefed on the operations of People’s Bus Service, new routes, ITS system and establishment of command and control room,” it said.

“It also decided to launch a mobile application of People’s Bus Service and activation of ITS system for the convenience of citizens. The mobile app will facilitate citizens to track the bus service in real time and make payments online, while CCTV cameras, screens, live tracking and monitoring facilities will be activated with the installation of ITS in the buses.”
