KOHAT: The police claim to have arrested a man hours after he allegedly killed a six-year-old boy after sexually assaulting him.

SP operations Bilal Ahmed told a press conference that the man had admitted to his crime before a magistrate.

He said postmortem report of the child confirmed he was abused by the accused, namely Mohammad Anwar, and then killed with a dagger.

He said body was recovered from a well in Talab Banda area.

SP Ahmed said the child had gone missing from his house on Saturday morning, but the police arrested the accused within hours after the child’s killing was reported.

He said the accused belonged to Orakzai district, while the victim was from Waziristan. He said an FIR under sections 302, 377 and 57 Child Protection Act had been registered against the accused.

The police had launched a search for the child on the directives of district police officer Shafiullah Gandapur.

MEDICAL CAMP: The local livestock and dairy development department organised a camp in Lachi tehsil and distributed medicines among farmers for different diseases like lumpy skin, mouth and hoof diseases and to remove deficiency of minerals in cattle.

A statement issued here on Sunday said the camp was inaugurated by district development advisory committee chairman MPA Ziaullah Bangash and Lachi tehsil chairman Ehsaan Khan.

Speaking on the occasion, deputy director livestock, Kohat, Dr Sohail advised farmers and owners of dairy farms to give necessary medicines to their animals to get more milk and meat.
