Senate chairman remains unhurt in road accident in DI Khan

DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani’s met with an accident when he was going in his car to attend the wedding function of Senator Maulana Attaur Rehman’s sons here on Sunday.

The accident occurred when his car lost control due to the failure of the hydraulic brake system.

Sources told Dawn that Sadiq Sanjrani remained unhurt in the accident, adding that he was later shifted to another vehicle.

Federal Minister Talha Mehmood and Senator Abdul Ghafoor Haidari were also travelling with Sanjrani to attend the wedding ceremony.

Meanwhile, a bridegroom allegedly stabbed his younger brother to death during his wedding ceremony after a scuffle with him over some dispute on Saturday.

According to witnesses, the groom got angry on something, which led to the tragic incident on Saturday night in Khanokhel village in the jurisdiction of Kadi Khaisur police station.

A police official said that a scuffle broke out between the groom, Mohammad Shahid, and his brother, Mohammad Zahid over a dispute. Later, the groom pulled a pistol at his brother, but the family intervened and reconciled them.

However, later, the groom stabbed his 16-year-old brother with a knife, leaving him critically injured. The injured was shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital, Dera, in critical condition. He succumbed to his injuries.

The police have registered a case and started looking for the suspect, who has escaped the area.
