ISLAMABAD: The Awami National Party (ANP) has hinted at countering PTI’s march in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) by organising a Peace March on Friday (Nov 4).

ANP President Aimal Wali Khan on Monday announced that his party would hold a peace march on Nov 4 in KP.

Addressing a press conference in the National Press Club, Mr Khan criticised PTI leader Imran Khan, calling him a selfish person, who was only pursuing his goal to achieve power, but there were contradictions in his words and actions.

He said that people of KP want to know the status of talks with the Tehrik-i-Talibaan (TTP).

“We only want peace which is why we are marching for peace on Friday. Our demand is from the state to crush the terrorists.

“The demand for peace is not from one government or authority but the entire state. People came out in large numbers against terrorism and resurgence of terror activities in Swat – such a large protest was never witnessed ever before,” Mr Khan said adding: “We believe in peace and only want a decent life for our people.”

Responding to a query he added that the march on Friday was for peace and stability in KP and there was no political agenda behind it. He also said that the ANP was taking up the request with Pakhtun National Alliance to join the peace march and said that all parties were united under one flag for peace.

However, he reiterated that there was a difference between the two marches on Nov 4. “The march coming out of Lahore is a march of greed and lust for power. Imran Khan is greedy for the chair,” he said.

Whereas, the ANP was holding a march with the intention to bring peace in the province, without any personal gain.
