LAHORE: Defending champions Lahore Qalandars will make the first pick at the player draft for next year’s edition of the Pakistan Super League, the Pakistan Cricket Board announced on Monday after deciding the pick order through a random draw.

Former champions Quetta Gladiators and Multan Sultans will have the second and third picks with Karachi Kings, Islamabad United and Peshawar Zalmi to follow.

According to the PCB statement, the remaining 17 rounds were decided through a “special statistical tool”. The dates for the PSL draft are yet to be announced.

The cash-rich league’s eighth edition is set to be held across four venues — Karachi, Lahore, Multan and Rawalpindi — in February-March next year.
