KARACHI: Two eyewitnesses on Tuesday identified four suspects as those who had allegedly lynched two telecom workers on suspicions of being child kidnappers in Machhar Colony.

On Oct 27, Ayman Javed and Ishaq Mahar were beaten to death by a mob near the TCF School.

Police arrested four suspects — Muhammad Farooq, Rahul Islam, Faisal and Abdul Ghafoor — and produced

On Tuesday, the investigating officer produced the four men before a judicial magistrate (west) and moved an application requesting to conduct their identification parade.

After completing required formalities, the magistrate conducted the identification parade.

The witnesses — Head Constable Zahid Jamal and Constable Muhammad Ishaq — rightly picked out the suspects among the dummies lined up before them.

The witnesses deposed that they had seen the four suspects torturing and hitting the victims with bricks and stones.

One of the witnesses said that when he tried to save the victims the mob also hit him with a stone, causing injuries.

IGP appears in SHC

Inspector General of Police Ghulam Nabi Memon on Tuesday appeared before Sindh High Court Chief Justice Ahmed Ali M. Shaikh and informed him that the police had arrested all 15 suspects nominated in the lynching incident.

The hearing was held inside the chief justice’s chamber. The CJ had summoned the police chief after taking notice of the lynching incident.

Later, the IGP told reporters on the premises of SHC that he had submitted a progress report before the chief justice. He said all the 15 suspects nominated in the FIR had been arrested.

He maintained that most of the apprehended suspects possessed computerised national identity cards.
