KOHAT: The Kohat police on Tuesday received 34 special riders of the Ababeel Squad for effectively controlling the increasing attacks on checkposts, police stations and street crime.
District police officer Shafiullah Gandapur had made a request to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police chief Muazzam Ja Ansari for provision of the riders squad.
The riders would patrol the streets and highways to check crimes, according to a statement.
SEMINAR: Speakers at a seminar on drug eradication held at the Kohat University of Science and Technology on Tuesday vowed to weed out the menace, especially ice drug, from educational institutions.
The participants were informed that the district administration had formed a drug eradication force to stamp out the menace.
On the occasion, district police officer Shafiullah Gandapur and deputy commissioner Furqan Ashraf advised the students to say no to drugs, especially ice.
They expressed determination to continue operations against drug traffickers, emphasising that it was responsibility of parents and teachers to keep the students away from drugs. They asked the students to inform the police if they noticed presence of drug sellers in their institutions.
Vice-chancellor Sardar Khan also spoke on the occasion.
FACILITIES SOUGHT AT BHU: Members of the person-centered maternity care (PCMC) have demanded the provision of basic facilities in the basic health unit of the Togh union council.
The PCMC members raised the issues at a meeting held the other day.
They also demanded repairing the BHU’s flooring, construction of washrooms in the labour room, provision of a water dispenser, a counter at the OPD, installation of CCTV cameras for security, and barbed wire around the building.
They said the BHU also covered population of Darra Adamkhel tribal subdivision.
