ISLAMABAD: Senator Muhammad Azam Swati has called for appropriate action so that people’s constitutionally guaranteed rights remain sacred and those violating these rights will enjoy no impunity.

The PTI lawmaker said this in an application furnished before the director general of HRC of Supreme Court on Thursday.

“Gross violation of my fundamental right to due process, dignity, privacy and the sanctity of the home has taken place which I want to bring to your kind notice so that appropriate and exemplary action may be taken,” said the seven-page application.

In a related development, Justice Aamer Farooq of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) took up the FIA petition seeking cancellation of bail granted to Mr Swati.

The court issued notice to Mr Swati and adjourned the matter till next week.

FIA’s special prosecutor Raja Rizwan Abbasi argued before the IHC that the trial court had overlooked the legal provisions while granting the post-arrest bail to Mr Swati.

In his application to the HRC’s chief, Azam Swati alleged that when he was attacked by unknown persons on Oct 13, his three domestic workers, who had witnessed the episode, were also beaten up badly with a direction to remain silent.
