ISLAMABAD: Several cases of robbery and snatching of cash and valuables have been reported from various areas of the federal capital.
Police said on Friday that a gang of robbers snatched Rs600,000 from one Tanveer Ahmed on G.T. Road. They said the culprits travelling on a van offered a lift to Mr Ahmed, and later snatched cash from him and threw him out of the vehicle in B-17.
In another incident, three armed men entered an electronics shop in H-13 and looted Rs150,000 cash, four mobile phone sets and a watch at gunpoint.
Furthermore, the police said two armed men intercepted M. Farooq at Faizabad and snatched his motorcycle from him. In another case, a gunman snatched Rs34,980 from Ashraf and Bilal at gunpoint at a petrol pump near Kashmir Chowk.
The police said two robbers deprived Amanullah of his two mobile phone sets in I-10/1.
They said a man stole Rs550,000 cash and a motorcycle from his employer M. Rizwan’s house in Bahria Town, while a gang of thieves stole Rs3 million from Sardar Khaliq’s car on G.T. Road.
Police said burglars broke into a house of Rashim Asad in Jinnah Garden and made off with 25-tola gold jewellery and other valuable items.
In a similar incident, the police said burglars broke into the house of Jibran Saeed in Burma Town and looted Rs22,000 cash and two-tola gold jewellery. On the other hand, seven vehicles were stolen from different parts of the federal capital.
Gujar Khan
Abdul Wahab Sethi, a resident of Housing Scheme No 1, told the local police that three robbers entered his house early on Friday and deprived his family of 10-tola gold jewellery, Rs100,000 cash and motorcycle.
In another incident, Qasim Javed, a resident of Kauntrila union council of Gujar Khan, reported to police that he was constructing his house in Ward No. 8 from where unknown thieves stole two wooden doors, two iron doors, electric water pump, iron windows, sanitary items and other valuables.
Zahid Mehmood, a branch manager of a company located near Guliyana Mor, reported to police that their cashier Wasim Anjum went to deposit Rs1 million in the bank, but did not return. The police have registered the case. The local police have also registered at least two cases of house burglaries in Gujar Khan.
Dilshad Abbas, Iesco SDO in Jatli, told police that thieves had stolen a power transformer from Syed Adda.
