KARACHI: A woman and her teenage daughter were killed and 13 others injured in a gas explosion in their apartment in Gulistan-i-Jauhar on Saturday, police said.

The injured were shifted to the Burns Centre of Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital where Sana Bashir Ahmed, 40, and her daughter Alishba, 18, died during treatment.

The police called the bomb disposal squad (BDS), which examined the place and ruled out the possibility of any sabotage.

The BDS in its report said the explosion was so powerful that doors and domestic use goods were destroyed.

“Accumulation of gas at one place caused the explosion,” according to initial findings of the BDS.
