U-17 hockey enters last eight stage

LAHORE, Dec 28: Lahore, Toba Tek Singh, Faisalabad, Okara and Bahawalpur marched into the last eight of the fifth Punjab U-17 Inter-district hockey championship on Wednesday.

Three goals by Muhammad Adnan and two by Muhammad Imran helped Lahore thrash Hafizabad 7-0 after leading the first half 2-0.

Adnan struck in the 10th, 38th and 45th minutes. Imran banged home in the 23rd and the 59th minute. Ihsan (60th) and Rashid (60th) were the other scorers.

Two goals each by Akbar and Muhammad Shahbaz guided Toba Tek Singh to a 6-0 win against Bhakhar.

Akbar scored back to back goals in the 20th and 23rd minutes while Shahbaz also struck two goals in a row in the 25th and the 28th minute.

Muhammad Irfan (40th) and Manzoor Ahmed (50th) were the other scorers.

Two goals by Rizwan steered Faisalabad to a 3-0 win against Sahiwal. He scored in the 31st and the 44th minute. M Zaman slammed a goal in the 11th minute.

Okara brushed aside Rahimyar Khan 3-0. All goals were scored in the second half. Usman Aslam (44th), Javed (54th) and Sajid Hussain (59th) also slammed goals.

Kasur defeated Chakwal 4-1.

Imran (13th minute), Muhammad Rashid (18th), Aqeel Ahmed (43rd), Ihsan (44th) struck goals for the winners. Hasan Ali slammed for the losers in the 39th minute.

Layyah defeated Rawalpindi 2-0. Faraz Ahmed (6th) and Gulfam (37th) shared the scoring honours.

A solitary goal by Kashif Aslam helped Pakpattan beat Khushab 1-0. He scored in the 20th minute.
