SAHIWAL: Locals and police thwarted a man’s alleged attempt to burn his first wife and a seven-year-old daughter in village 52/EB, Arifwala. The Sadar police arrested the suspect and seized petrol cans and an ax from him. Ghulam Ali and his first wife, Ayesha, have three daughters. He married for the second time two years ago and began living with his second wife.

According to eyewitnesses, Ghulam Ali visited Ayesha and got into a fight with her. Later, he locked her and their eldest daughter in the room and began putting petrol on it, causing Ayesha and the daughter to panic.

Neighbors contacted 15, and the police with villagers, rescued the woman and her daughter. Ayesha demanded the chief minister provide her safety and justice.

HELD: Two female dancers and 19 other people were arrested late on Sunday in Peoples Colony for breaching the Punjab Sound System Regulation Act of 2015 and the Punjab Marriage Function Act of 2016.

Locals complained about loudspeakers and “indecent” dance performances at Muhammad Ashraf’s mehndi ceremony, according to Muhammad Hussain, ASI of Ghala Mandi police. Gul Naz and Aliya, as well as Muhammad Arsalan, Sargamullah, Muhammad Usman, Abdul Samad, Kashif Allah Dita, and Nisar Ahmed, were arrested.
