KHYBER/LAKKI MARWAT/KOHAT: The police killed a suspected terrorist after a gun attack on their checkpost in Jamrud tehsil of Khyber tribal district on Friday.

According to a statement issued by the Police Centre in Shah Kas area, armed attackers opened fire at the Wazir Dhand market police station at around midday.

The attack injured two policemen, who were shifted to the hospital.

Their condition was declared out of danger by the doctors.

Two personnel suffer bullet injuries

The police seized arms and ammunition from the killed attacker. He was identified as Yousaf, a resident of Spin Qabar area in Bara tehsil.

Earlier, gunmen killed a former Levies official in Mastalkhel area of Jamrud tehsil on Thursday night.

The police said Sharbat Khan was attacked during his stay in a relative’s house.

They declared the murder a targeted killing and sad investigation had been launched into it after the registration of a case against unidentified attackers.

Meanwhile, armed men attacked a police patrol near Malang Adda area in Lakki Marwat district on Friday.

However, no official was injured in the gun attack.

An official of the Serai Gambila police station said a police mobile van was targetted by armed motorcyclists in the rural area.

He said several bullets hit the vehicle smashing the rear windshield but the policemen on board remained unhurt.

The official said the police returned fire, which led to an exchange of fire.

He said the attackers escaped to Darga forests located alongside the Gambila River benefitting from traffic congestion on the road.

The official said reinforcements along with APC vehicles and QRF commandos had been sent to the area to hunt down the attackers.

He said the police had registered a case but no arrests were made.

In another incident, miscreants threw a hand grenade inside the police training school on Rawalpindi Road in Kohat district early on Friday.

However, no one was injured in the attack, the police said.

According to them, a high alert has been sounded and vehicles and motorcycles are being checked at road blockades. Also, a search has been launched for the attackers.

A school guard said two motorcyclists threw a hand grenade inside the premises causing an explosion.

He said the attack neither injured anyone nor did it damage the property.

Police DIG Qasim Ali Khan and district police officer Shafiullah Gandapur visited the school and ordered the collection of attack evidence as well as the blocking of all roads around the campus. The bomb disposal squad examined the area and cleared it.
