QUETTA: The head of World Health Organisation, Pakistan, has assured the Balochistan government of its complete support to control epidemics in flood-hit areas and meet health and food needs of mothers and children.

The assurance was given by Dr Palitha Gurnathana Mahipala, the country head of WHO Pakistan, during a meeting with Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Abdul Qudoos Bizenjo here on Sunday.

Dr Mahipala assured the Balochistan government of the WHO’s cooperation to control polio, measles and other children diseases.

He said that the WHO would set up more vaccination centers in the province besides providing a CT scan ambulance and motorcycles to health workers.

He lauded efforts of the Balohcistan government for providing relief and assistance to flood-affected people.

The chief minister thanked the WHO for providing valuable support in the flood calamity.

Chief Secretary Abdul Aziz Uqaili and health secretary Hafiz Tahir were also present during the meeting.
