LAHORE: PPP parliamentary leader in Punjab Assembly Syed Hassan Murtaza alleges the Parvez Elahi government is diverting all development funds meant for the province towards his home district/division Gujrat.

Speaking at a reception here on Wednesday, he said that development of other parts of Punjab was being sacrificed at the altar of Gujrat as all funds were being diverted towards the political stronghold of the incumbent chief minister.

Likewise, jobs in the province were also being given only to the ruling PTI and PML-Q activists, he added. He said the PTI was busy in defending [sale of] a watch by former prime minister Imran Khan.

Murtaza said that the PPP was weak in Punjab only because former President Asif Ali Zardari always gave preference to the country over party politics.

He also said the PPP always saved the country from dictatorship and recalled that it completed its term in government despite a very thin majority during 2008-13.

He said that the biggest problem of the biggest province was bad governance as there was neither a full time chief secretary nor inspector-general of police.
