DERA GHAZI KHAN: A criminal was shot dead and few others were injured while five police officials also suffered injuries in an exchange of fire at Rojhan’s riverine Katcha Kapra area on Wednesday.

Police said armed men of Lound Umrani gang attacked the Bihar Machhi police post and Rajanpur District Police Officer Ahmed Mohyuddin and his team reached there and had a shootout with the criminals. The fierce exchange of fire continued for several hours, police claimed, adding that they killed ringleader Khuda Bakhsh Lound who was a proclaimed offender.

Police said some other members of the gang also were injured and five Elite Force officials also suffered injuries in firing and they were shifted to the Rojhan THQ hospital and a Rahim Yar Khan health facility.

The law and order situation in Rojhan tehsil of Rajanpur district has been deteriorating for long and many businessmen and residents of the area have either left their homes or have been living under constant fear. They demand that the law-enforcement agencies rid them of the problem once and for all.
