KARACHI: The Sindh police have prepared comprehensive recommendations, which would be submitted to the provincial government for amending the Control of Narcotics Substance (Sindh Amendment) Act, 2021 to make it more stringent and effective.

This was stated by Sindh Inspector General of Police Ghulam Nabi Memon on Thursday. He observed that most crimes in the city were committed by drug addicts.

He admitted that street crimes, murder(s) during robberies and narcotics trade were extremely serious and sensitive issues, which were being addressed by the police ‘seriously.’

The provincial police chief stated this while addressing Overseas Investors Chamber of Commerce and Industries (OICCI) at the latter’s office in Clifton.

IG Memon said that the Sindh police by utilising modern technology were taking concerted efforts against street crimes, killings during robberies and sale and narcotics trade.

He pointed out that not only Sindh but the other provinces were also adversely affected by the crimes. He said all SSPs of districts had been assigned the task to eradicate narcotics.

He said Sindh government was also helping in the upgradation of CTD, RRF (rapid response force) and investigation wing of the police.

He said he had appointed the AIG Operations as the focal person for coordination and addressing problems of the overseas investors’ chamber.

Earlier, OICCI secretary general Abdul Aleem and others welcomed the provincial police chief to its office.

The investors exchanged their views with him regarding the issues being faced by them, present law and order situation and traffic jams.
