BAJAUR: All Bajaur Teachers Association here on Thursday expressed concern over transfers of senior teachers by the local education department allegedly on political grounds and warned to hold a protest demonstration if the transfers weren’t cancelled till Monday.
The concern was shown by the association leaders during a meeting presided over by its president Haji Amanullah, said a statement.
Besides the association’s office-bearers a number of senior teachers also attended the meeting held a couple of days after the education department transferred scores of senior teachers from their respective schools.
The participants termed the transfers unnecessary and against the interests of both the students and teachers.
The statement claimed that the recent transfers of most of the teachers were made “on political grounds” for holding certain political thoughts. It stated that the association leaders expressed their resolve not to tolerate such anti-teachers act by the education officials.
The participants said that these transfers were also against the provincial government’s education policy that called for posting of teachers in schools nearest to their respective areas across the province.
Moreover, the statement described the action as an attempt to create unrest among the teachers across the district.
It was decided that the association would hold a protest demonstration outside the office of education department in Bajaur if transfer orders of all teachers made recently were not withdrawn till Monday.
