ISLAMABAD: An iPhone containing official and sensitive data of the embassy of Netherlands was stolen in the capital, police said on Tuesday.

The police said the iPhone was under the use of Saqib Riaz, a senior police officer of the embassy. He went to the Aabpara market for shopping where it was stolen, said the police.

The operation manager of the embassy, Sacha Vos Pena, lodged a complaint with the Aabpara police to recover the phone containing personal, official and sensitive data.

Meanwhile, five robbers beat and injured a man during a robbery at Dhoke Jillani, the police said. The gang held up Shahid Hanif and tried to snatch cash and valuables, but he put up resistance. As a result, the armed men beat him up, dragged him to a nearby graveyard, where they stripped him and made his video.

The robbers then looted Rs38,000, two mobile phones and took away his motorcycle.

Armed men also snatched cash, mobile phones and other valuables from citizens at scores of other places, according to the police.

Moreover, burglars broke into the house of Dr Abdul Qudoos at Soan Garden and made off with 19 tola gold ornaments. Thieves also took away Rs132,000 and four mobile phones from the mobile shop of Kamran Malik at I-9 Markaz.

Meanwhile, a car was stolen at H-8 while 13 motorcycles were lifted from H-9, Makkah Town, G-11 Markaz, Numl, I-10/4, Dhoke Awan, Korang Town, G-9 Markaz, Ghouri Town, PWD, G-12 and G-11/4.
