ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Ata Bandial on Wednesday observed that delays in decision making and reluctance on part of the bureaucracy in ensuring effective service delivery not only overburdens the judiciary but also adds to the despondencies and miseries of the citizens.

He said the bureaucracy, being executive cadre of the country, was mandated with the task of execution of policies so as to address public grievances and provide them prompt relief.

The chief justice was speaking to a 16-member delegation from the National School of Public Policy (NSPP), who called on him in the Supreme Court as part of their inland study tour.

The delegation comprised the NSPP rector, faculty members and participants of 117th national management course from various services/occupational groups of civil bureaucracy of Pakistan.

Rector Dr Ijaz Munir thanked presented a souvenir to the chief justice. The CJP reciprocated by presenting a memento to him.
