KARACHI: Sindh Inspector General of Police Ghulam Nabi Memon on Sunday said that the provincial government had given approval for recruitment of 2,000 policemen in the Rapid Response Force (RRF) and other specialised units of the police.
Speaking at a programme held at the Police Headquarters Garden in honour of policemen, particularly traffic officials, for their services rendered in the flood-hit districts, the IGP said that the Sindh government would also bear expenditures being incurred during all process of training of the recruited policemen.
He directed DIG-traffic Ahmed Nawaz Cheema to submit detailed recommendations about deputing traffic policemen close to their places of residence.
Former Test cricketer Saeed Anwar said service to the humanity was a great thing. He regretted that people were learning all other things except for humanism.
The DIG-traffic pointed out that 400 traffic policemen were deployed in the flood-hit districts/areas to ensure smooth flow of traffic.
He said they helped over 100 heavy vehicles stuck-up in rain-accumulated areas besides performing relief activities.
