SUKKUR: A three-year-old boy drowned in stagnant floodwaters in Zawar Khan Wassan locality of Naseer Faqir Jalalani village of Khairpur on Monday.

The boy was identified as Maroof, son of Pervaiz Wassan.

Residents of the neighbourhood gathered at the residence of the bereaved family and strongly condemned the provincial government for failing to drain floodwaters even more than three months after the rain and floods hit the province.

They moaned that on the one hand, stagnant water had already kept their lands uncultivable thus depriving them of their livelihood, and, on the other, it was claiming lives and causing outbreaks.
