BAJAUR: Police arrested on Monday a drug peddler, who was trying to smuggle nine kilograms of opium to down country.

According to a statement issued by police, the man was arrested at Jinnah Bus Terminal near Shandi More area. It said that police started search for the drug pusher after receiving information that he was trying to smuggle opium from the district.

It said that police arrested the 25-year-old youth at the bus stand and recovered nine kilograms of opium from the secret cavities of his briefcase. The arrested man was shifted to Khar police station and a case was registered against him.

The statement told detention of the drug smuggler was part of the drive launched against drug dealers across the district. It said police had planned to hold out anti-drugs awareness sessions in all educational institutions across the district.
