QUETTA: Another victim of the Nov 30 suicide attack on a police truck lost his life on Monday, bringing the death toll to five.

The truck carrying a police contingent was on its way to provide security to health workers engaged in the polio eradication campaign when the suicide attacker travelling in a rickshaw targeted it in the Baleli area. Four people, including an ASI, died and over 20 others were injured.

“Constable Gul Jan succumbed to injuries in the trauma centre of Civil Hospital,”

Dr Wasim Baig said. Mr Baig, spokesman for Civil Hospital, described the condition of three other injured as serious.

A woman and her sons, eight-month-old Imran and three-year-old Adnan, were burnt to death when their car caught fire after the suicide bomber collided the rickshaw with the police truck. Her husband and two other sons received serious burn injuries and were shifted to the Burns Unit of Bolan Medical College Hospital.

The counter-terrorism department of police registered a case against unidentified persons in connection with the suicide

attack, which was claimed by the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan. However, no arrest was reported.
